Project Details
From May of 2014 to May of 2015, I was fortunate enough to hold the position of
Director of Design at TEDx UTSC (University of Toronto - Scarborough).
My most important task was to create a logo that captured the conference theme - titled
“Unleash the Fantasy” - for which I chose the image of a phoenix. We wanted to focus on the
ability that every person has to turn imagination into reality - to challenge the idea of what
is possible - and make that the central topic of the talks at our event. Our hope was to reignite
the ambitions of our audience, and to leave them feeling inspired and ready to change the world.
Some of the campaign deliverables that I provided and are featured below include t-shirts,
the conference program, promotional flyers, digital banners, and posters for each speaker.
As a core member of the organizing team, my responsibilities extended
beyond crafting the visual identity of the conference; I was also
involved in conceptualizing the theme and coordinating with other
key members of the broader marketing and communications team to
organize and execute our promotional efforts.
Speakers for TEDx UTSC 2015 included Emmy award winning journalist and
filmmaker Rohit Gandhi, Olympic gold medalist Marnie McBean, and
author and poet Daniel Tysdal. The event sold out and has collected
over 1.9 million views on YouTube.
